This week has been a roller-coaster of events, emotions, disappointments, and exciting news.

Let’s start with the bad and go to the good!

1) We had our house in a contract……had a contract on the house we wanted……..Buyer backed out.

Back to square one.

2) My job has decided to split our group into 3 separate groups. 3 separate groups of tours, vacations, and seniority. Let’s see how that goes

3) Hurricane Ike came through Texas pretty hard this weekend.

4) Good: Baby shower is this Sunday for friends that live here locally around Ft Worth area. We are surprised by the big turn out and can’t wait to see everyone. Weather is supposed to clear up to 20% chance of rain.

5) My school is going awesome! I love all my teachers and the peers.  Now that I am 7 months pregnant, I am grateful to have fellow peers that try to accommodate me and understand my numerous runs to the potty.

6) My Aunt Dain got her purple belt; my cousin got his stripes! That is awesome news because they both work very hard to study and do their best.

7) Bunco is tonight at the house.  Ironically, its also one of our player’s birthdays. I decided to decorate the house to celebrate Marsha!!!

8) Papa seems to be doing well. I talked to Granny a few days ago…Papa was of course outside….GO FIGURE!

That’s it for now….ready to rest!

Papa September 2, 2008

We recently were faced with the news that my Papa has diffuse large cell lymphoma.  Several months ago, he started to develop a small mass under his left ear. In a little over a 4 month span, his mass evolved into a huge mass that was the size of a softball wrapping around under his jawline.  After several tests and biopsies, the doctor was able to determine his exact cancer type. He has been hospitalized for tests and his first set of chemo-therapy. He just had his first treatment of 4 that are supposed to be 3 weeks apart.  He is in very good spirits and is trying to change his lifestyle to fit the doctor’s orders. I am amazed at all the family support he is getting.  Everyday he has swarms of family and friends visiting, calling, and encouraging his healthy recovery. Please have your prayers and thoughts in mind for him.

Showers, Showers, And More Showers July 19, 2008

We recently found out that our baby is going to be a precious little girl.

Please go to http://www.babycenter.com/403_name-our-babygirl_8266654_165368396498.bc

to vote on your favorite name.

We are also in the process of moving, so de-cluttering and fixing up the house has consumed our schedule. To save money, we are doing small family outings with the girls. Family movie nights with a mixture of popcorn and dinner has become our ritual summer fun! The girls are coping well with understanding the demands of a new baby, new house, and selling our current home.  Jimmye has been hussling and bussling trying to get all the odd jobs done that I can’t do due to being pregnant, which is almost everything. Painting, moving things to storage, mowing and edging. He’s doing a great job and we finally felt comfortable enough to put our house on the market yesterday.

Our realtor and I aren’t to pleased with the pictures, so we are going to get some new ones in there…..BUT its on the market, as Mandye would say.

Pregnancy News:

  • when you are busy, a pregnancy goes by super-duper fast
  • BAM, I got this kangaroo pooch!
  • baby girl is starting to move around quite a lot, but sometimes I confuse her with gas…Hmm!
  • Food is awesome…not really craving particular foods, but just all of them!
  • Several Showers are officially planned. Couples Shower Sept 14th. Family Shower Nov 9th.  Work Shower is in the works, depending on my school schedule. Honestly, I’m just excited to see folks that I haven’t seen in awhile, mainly my Aunt Dana and my cousins.  The presents are awesome and will save us a lot of money, but I am excited to be celebrating the birth of our first baby with others.
  • swollen feet…hmmm…..new one
  • huge Breast…that’s another new one

As for now, our family is extremely busy everyday making sure nothing gets put on the backburner. Tv watching has slowed to less than 30 minutes a day, if that! Eating out has become a new, but not long, routine due to exhaustion from the work being done around the house.

Alright…well, I can’t think of much else!

Take care.

Spring Break March 19, 2008

Filed under: Family — cclandi @ 2:07 am

This last week was my college spring break. Boy was it nice to not worry about homework assignments.  This week the girls are on spring break.  Jimmye and I couldn’t get any time off from work, so they are pretty much just hanging out at the house.  Kinda worked out, we’ve had horrible weather this week, which really limits any options for in town traveling.

So now back to school work. I went to work this morning…..”Oh SHIT!! My project is due today.” Now why would our class decide to have a project due the week right after spring break? Beats me. But thank god, I got it finished and it actually got a pretty good reaction from the class.

Two weekends ago, we had Mandye’s birthday party.  I wanted her to have a say so in her party, but she only wanted Main Event, or Build A Bear.  Both these places are obscenely expensive, costing about $10 to $15 a kid.  So, Mandye mentioned having a slumber party.  She wanted to invite two boys over for the party, but not to spend the night.  SO, I had to think of something for the kids to do in the mean time.

Wal-Mart Scavenger hunt! We made a list of 20 of Mandye’s favorite things and compiled a scavenger hunt. Two teams of 5 kids a piece were speed walking all over Wal-mart trying to beat one another.  Super chaotic, but Super Fun.

Everyone had a good time! But, huge, hUgE, HUGE lessoned learned! Limit the amount of kids that spend the night.  We had 5 girls spend the night, plus Mandye. OH WOW, what a crazy bunch!

We followed that jam packed weekend by following it up with the next weekend helping my sister-n-law and brother-n-law move into their new home.  We were able to help them get the rest of the big stuff out and unpack several boxes.  Saturday, my birthday, I spent it sleeping until 2pm.  I was extremely tired, but wished I had made myself get up earlier so I could have ate breakfast with mom. I think we are going to try to do something this Saturday, we’ll see. Both of us stay busy, hard to fit in time to travel an hour to visit.

This coming weekend is Easter Weekend.  I went to Dollar Tree and hooked up some nice goodies for the day.  I’m praying the weather gets a little nicer so we can be outside.

So enough of calendar events……

OMG, I almost forgot! Don, my little brother (19), got a job at AT&T as a premise tech.  This is a great opportunity for him.  I’ve been trying to remember to call him every morning to make sure he is on his way to work.  I’m wishing the best for him and hoping that he uses this to his fullest potential. I don’t expect this to be a career for him, but the money he could make to buy himself a house or pay for his school is worth the work.

Coincidence or Voodoo? March 6, 2008

In our path to pay off our debt, we have accomplished our first baby step of having $1,000 saved.  We are in baby step two which is called debt snowball.  We recently just paid off a loan and a credit card.  In our excitement, we were faced with bizarre events within a matter of 4 days.

Thursday Night:

  • Jimmye and I sit together to pay off our credit card and loan online.
  • We recieve confirmation payments were paid in full.

Friday Morning:

  • On my way to work, I have a car accident in rush hour traffic.
  • I have a hole in my front bumper, the shape of a hitch.
  • Praying that the the other driver’s insurance will cover the damage.

Friday Evening:

  • Jimmye gets his timing belt replaced on the jetta.
  • Sounds simple, but cost $700.

Saturday Morning:

  • After eating breakfast together, Meagan notices the ice maker is leaking again.
  • Jimmye replaced some components on the refridgerator about a month ago.
  • The part replacement didn’t cut it.  Fridge is completely out.
  • We have had our refridgerator for only 6 years. We were not expecting this blow.

Sunday

  • Pretty simple day, living out of coolers as fridgerators.
  • Do what you have to do, but it feels like camping inside your home.

Monday Morning

  • I have to leave the house by 6:00am to get to work on time.
  • As I’m driving out of the garage, I see my gas light is on.  Now I’m in a much bigger rush.
  • I start driving down our street and see that my gears aren’t shifting correctly.
  • Instead of shifting, the transmission is staying in 2nd gear, getting up to 4000 RPM’s.
  • I call Jimmye and he tells me to turn around and drive the Jetta instead.

Monday Afternoon

  • Jimmye calls me from the Honda shop.
  • A rat was trying to make himself a nest inside my engine.
  • Leaves, trash bag pieces, and cut up wires were the materials of his nest.
  • The rat bit through two wires connecting to the transmission.
  • Final cost of repairs: $150.00

So, all in all, we have had a rough 4 days.  BUT, thank God we have not had to use any credit cards to pay for these expenses.  We had cash ready for emergencies like these! Timing is everything huh?

In our process of trying to pay off all our debt, Jimmye and I have been rampaging the house.  We have been selling all kinds of things on Ebay, Craigslist, and through regular forums.  You would not believe all the things we found in our house that we never use and obviously could live without.  Cameras, old cell phones, small appliances, books, clothes, high priced items (that we had to have) that sit in our closet, and many more other things are just the house not being used.  It’s amazing how cluttered our house was and still is. Slowly but surely, debt will be gone, no matter the means.
